Biography:

Ms. Bruce is a Speech Language Pathologist and an Assistive Technology Practitioner. She has worked in nursing homes, group homes, residential institutions, schools, community environments, hospitals, university clinics, sheltered workshops, and personal residences. She has provided speech therapy and assistive technology services to individuals with a range of mild to severe disabilities through programs in Montana, Florida, New Hampshire, and Georgia. Ms. Bruce has also developed materials and presented on a variety of assistive technology topics at local and national levels.

Research Interests and Current Projects:

Ms. Bruce is interested in design of residential environments for individuals with communication impairments, design and accessibility of informal learning environments for individuals with disabilities, improved design of speech generating devices, and assessment practices for accommodations in the workplace. Grant: RERC on Workplace Accommodations: Remote Workplace Assessment Funding: NIDRR Description: The RERC is beginning to develop and validate a protocol for using videoconferencing technology to complete workplace accessibility assessments in remote locations.
